Illustrative: landed ≈ $3.58/lb including our fee vs typical distributor ≈ $4.25/lb See how it adds up
Reserve 10 bagsSmall roasters reserve bags of Brazilian green coffee. When the container fills, it ships from the exporter to you, with no distributor in between.
A full container is about 320 bags. Most small roasters need far fewer.
A container holds 320 bags of 60 kg. A small roaster can't buy that much at once. So they buy a few bags at a time from a distributor, and pay a markup on every bag.

Why Brazilian coffee
In 2024 Brazil supplied about a third of US green coffee imports by volume (33.6%).
Tariffs cut that to about a quarter in 2025. Brazilian green coffee has been duty-free again since November 2025.

Questions
You have no customers yet. Why should I trust you with my coffee?
You don't have to yet. Lotmates is pre-launch. No container has shipped and we have taken no orders, so today you only leave your details. We'll email you lots and offer samples before anything is binding.
If I click Reserve, what have I actually agreed to?
Today, reserving saves your email, your business and the bags you have in mind. There are no lots to browse yet. No payment and no commitment. Nothing is binding until you confirm a specific lot.
When do I pay, and what happens to my money if the container never fills?
Today there is nothing to pay. The plan is that you pay the full amount upfront when you confirm a lot, and the money is held in escrow. Containers have no fixed deadline, because each one ships when it fills. We have not settled the exact moment payment is due, when escrow releases it, or how a refund works if you withdraw. You will see all three in writing before you confirm a lot.
How long until I have coffee? I can't run out while a container fills.
Keep your current supplier for now. The container ships only after it fills, and we can't yet say how long the first one will take. We will give each container an estimated departure and arrival window before anything is binding.
What if I don't like the sample?
Each lot comes with origin, process and grading notes. The plan is that you approve or reject on a pre-shipment sample, and that is your point to say no: once the coffee ships, a quality rejection is no longer open. We have not settled what happens to your payment and those bags when you reject. You will see that in writing before you confirm a lot.
Who is the importer of record, and who pays if the container is damaged or held at customs?
The plan is that Lotmates acts as importer of record and carries the cargo risk until delivery. Bags ship from the exporter, clear US customs and travel on to you. This is not yet in place, and insurance in the calculator is an illustrative cost line, and it is not a policy. You will have the terms in writing before you confirm a lot.
What's the catch in that price? Is the saving real?
Treat it as a worked example. The figures are illustrative and never a quote, and no real lot has been priced. The example shows landed ≈ $3.58/lb including our fee against a typical distributor at ≈ $4.25/lb. We plan to charge 5 to 10% of the export price, and the example uses 10%. A distributor can also hold stock in the US and release small amounts when you need them. Change any assumption in the calculator and see whether it still works for you.
Coffee prices move. What price am I locking in, and when?
Nothing is locked while you are on the list. We have not decided when the price fixes or who carries a market move while a container fills. Expect the price and its basis in writing with each lot.
I only need a few bags. Is that too small, and where do they go when they land?
We are setting the minimum per buyer now. The examples on this page start at one bag. Delivery to your door is the plan, and 10 bags is about 1,323 lb, so check that you can receive and store them.
What if tariffs change after I've committed?
Brazilian green coffee is currently exempt from the additional US tariff on Brazilian goods; we monitor changes. We have not decided who bears a tariff change after a lot is confirmed.
Why would I leave the importer I already trust?
You may not want to, and nothing here asks you to. An importer gives you stock on hand, small releases and a partner who carries import risk. Lotmates suits the bags you can plan ahead, if buying direct from the exporter is worth the wait. If you need coffee next month, stay where you are.
